Open Letter: No to Atheism Promotion by Media

Subject: No to Atheism Promotion by Media

Respected Sir,

Asalamo Alykum,

It has been noted that our dramas, talk shows and public messages are moving in the direction of promoting non-religiousness, secularism and atheism.

These attitudes, thoughts and conversions are shown as being cool, broad-mindedness and freedom of thought and speech.

Indeed Allah Almighty says,

“There is no compulsion in religion. True guidance has been made clearly distinct from error. Therefore, whoever renounces 'Taghut' (forces of Shaitan) and believes in Allah, has grasped the firm hand-hold that will never break. Allah, Whose hand-hold you have grasped, hears all and knows all.

Allah is the Wali (Protector) of those who believe, He brings them out of the depth of darkness and lead them into the light. As for the unbelievers, whose wali (protector) is Taghut (forces of Shaitan), he takes them out of the light and leads them into the depths of darkness. As a result they will become the companions of the Hell fire and shall live therein forever.”

[The Holy Quran, (2) Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 256, 257]

But the criminal truth is that this Quranic verse is only half-quoted and misquoted severely. It is quoted in a way which portrays as if it is okay either ways with Allah Almighty, whether you follow His Commandments or not. There is no chastisement either ways. Whereas that is a gross twisting of fact. What the holy verse very clearly intends to say is that Allah Almighty does not force human beings for their thoughts and actions. They are free to choose their paths and then should be ready to face the consequences of their choice.

Allah Almighty has blessed you with a position of power and authority. I would request you to issue ethical guidelines for the media outlets and not allow them to spread misguidance amongst Muslims and non-Muslims alike. They must only convey the correct holy message and not contort it.
