Open Letter: Will Election 2013 Rigging Evidences be Ignored
“In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful”
Open Letter
To, Honorable Justice Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim
Election Commission of Pakistan Secretariat, Constitution Avenue, Islamabad 44000, Pakistan
Subject: Will Election 2013 Rigging Evidences be Ignored?
Asalamo Alykum,
It is a trend that the loser party of the elections says that the elections were rigged and such claims may be ignored. But what if credible evidence is floating among the public of such a rigging? Will the rigging allegation still be ignored? Will Election 2013 rigging evidences be ignored?
It must most certainly be in your notice that currently the media is surging with evidences of massive rigging in the current elections. The rigging included,
• Pre-poll bullying as reported by PTI’s Abrar-ul-Haq, prior to elections
• Bullying at polling stations, forcing people to stamp a certain party or not allowing them to cast their vote
• Providing people pre-stamped ballot papers
• Destroying cast votes
• Self-stamping massive ballot papers
There are personal statements and video evidences of the above rigging. The worst of the rigging has taken place in Karachi and then Lahore. Why are the law-enforcing agencies helpless against the mafia of Karachi? How long will they remain helpless? To what extent will they remain helpless? Some politicians have been caught rigging red-handed in Lahore. Why are they walking around scot-free now? And if some polling stations have been caught rigging, what is the assurance that other polling stations of the same area were not rigged?
When we recall the last speeches of the election candidates, Sir Imran Khan seemed very calm and hopeful and gave a clear analyzing criterion for people to think about before they vote, while Mian Nawaz Shareef seemed extremely anxious and was resorting to desperate bribery and desperate pleading to vote for PML-N. How come the election results do not match the expectation of either of the two politicians?
Please bear in mind that people resort to revolt when the law is being violated and on top of that the law-enforcing agencies remain mute upon the violation. If Pakistan witnesses a revolt in the near future, the responsibility of it lies with the authorities for their inaction.
Conducting free and fair elections is the responsibility of Commission of Pakistan, in coordination with the police and other law enforcing agencies. It is also their responsibility to take action against any form of rigging.
We demand for re-elections, at least in the polling stations against which there is evidence. The witnesses and evidence bearers should be given full confidence and security. They should have direct access to you and their identity should remain absolutely confidential, known only to you. These re-elections must be conducted under the central surveillance of cameras visible to you and on-ground army monitoring.
Honorable Justice Fakhruddin, people have trusted you much for these elections. It is unto you to fulfill that trust. You would certainly not like to lose people’s trust in you. And in the Hereafter, you will be answerable to Allah Almighty as well. Do you think you will be able to face Allah Almighty with a clear conscience?
